People experienced greater happiness in the preceding generation. This essay completely agrees with the statement, this is solely because in the earlier generations, people’s lives were simpler without the exposure of modern technologies and their jobs were more secure.
There were some who didn’t agree that the earlier generation were happier, due to the reason for modern technology enabling better accessibility towards healthcare and education. Despite the developments in technology, healthcare and education, these developments have also introduced new challenges such as increased stress, higher living costs, and a highly competitive market. This pace of change leads to an unbearable amount of pressure for certain individuals and often leads to depression. Additionally, while healthcare and education improved, these advancements are not equally accessible to everyone, and this inequality will still have an impact towards overall happiness.
One of the more significant reasons why this essay agrees with the statement is simply because the older generations typically do not encounter highly stressed situations compared to today. The simplicity and stability of the older generation meant they face overwhelming pressures less frequently than the modern times. This contrasts how these present automation introduced new sources of stress despite their benefits. Without these rapid technological changes and heightened economic competition, the preceding generation lived a more balanced and less stressful lifestyle which had a direct correlation towards their overall happiness.
Taking everything into account, even though modern technology presented the current generation with better accessibility towards healthcare and education, this rapid change in pace has negatively impacted the overall happiness of this current generation leaving the preceding generation to be happier in comparison.
