Having a master’s in supply chain management from this scholarship is an asset for me to contribute my knowledge and skills to the development of transport in Laos. The usage of my experiences and connection will be greatly helpful for my personal and professional growth. There are three practical examples that I intend to work on for solving critical problems in the logistics and supply chain sector in the future.
Primarily, Laos is a landlocked country, but it has a great opportunity to trade with neighboring countries and international markets. So, my intention is to assist the governments to facilitate faster improvement the cross-border and increase export activities. Secondly, I will use my knowledge to improve farmers in rural villages enable them to sell their farming products, such as vegetables, rice, and crops, to market cities. I will create the cold storage to keep the plant products fresh.
Third, I will train the government officials to understand risk management, real-time supply chain monitoring, and emergency planning especially during crisis events. For instance, during Covid-19 pandemic spread across the country, the healthcare system faced critical challenges to supply the medical supports and vaccine infection.
In contrast, the constraints that will block achieving these tasks are that a country has poorly maintained roads and may not have cooperation with governments, lack of financial support to the project.
In conclusion, I will use all my knowledge gained from this scholarship in logistics and supply chain management to help the development of transport. I will solve the three critical issues improving cross-border efficiency for exports, training government officials in risk management and rural farmers to minimize agricultural product waste for sustainability social development in Laos.
