It is argued that international sporting events play a crucial role in mitigating international conflicts and encouraging patriotic feelings among citizens. I completely disagree with this opinion due to the aggressive supportive of teams fan and unwise fund allocation.
Although international sporting events can sometimes promote peace and mutual understanding, they may also increase tensions when emotions get out of control. In some cases, fierce competition leads to violence among both athletes and supporters, resulting in injuries and social unrest. Such incidents can damage a country’s international image rather than strengthen relationships between nations. For instance, following a highly charged football match between Egypt and Algeria, violent clashes erupted between supporters, creating widespread hostility and even causing a diplomatic dispute between the two countries. This example demonstrates that international sporting events do not always ease international tensions; instead, they can occasionally intensify them.
The second reason for my opinion is that holding these events could undermine national sentiment and trigger Outrage feelings. This is because, while people, especially needy ones, struggle to meet their basic needs, many of the country’s resources are spent on these activities. By this I mean, Countries often spend billions of dollars on building state of the stadium that may become that are abandoned or underused post event while there is a shortage in financing of essential services such as healthcare and education.
In addition, hosting such events may have negative effects to many in terms of traffic congestion food shortages. This is because a huge number of teams in different games with their supportive require increased security measures and abandon of food.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that hosting international sporting events is not an effective way to promote healthy patriotism or peaceful relations between nations. This is because such events can lead to the waste of public resources and encourage aggressive behaviour among team supporters. Instead, I believe sporting events should be viewed independently of the patriotism and political issues associated with the countries the athletes represent.
