In today’s fast-paced world, the crime wave is increasing progressively within every generation. So, there is an argument about whether being kept in a cell is the most alternative way of punishment. Regarding this phenomenon, my point is disagreement. This essay will discuss some conditions in order to prove my opinion in detail and reach a specific verdict on the given argument.
Firstly the reason makes me disagree about the given condition is, prison can be time-consuming. According to my country’s action against for a crime like mugging which was common,there used to be a one-year period prisoning until 2023, now after changes, for this a probation is maintained only if an offender is young or forced to help with community services only at weekends, for they have family. Thus, even a short period of prison,climed for a crime can not be a suitable action when these people have their own status or value in their society. Some people might say a cell can let them to repent from their mistake and plan new life within there. It may be true for some offenders,however just a light type of punishing can also be enough to come back to or start new life. Therefore, in my view,it is crucial.
Secondly, keeping individuals in prison may not always effectively address,cut the root causes of their criminal behavior and instead it may be a trigger to reoccurance as their willingness results from a long period of prison and planning within that time. On the purpose of avoiding such situation, instead of simply locking up offenders, alternative approaches such as mental and psychological programs, education have shown positive results in reducing reoffending rates in many parts of the world.This means that even a jail might be wrong decision. Some people believe that such kind of programs must be held during the imprisonment. It can be done,but anyway it takes time or breaks a chain of economy as one individual lives by doing nothing. Thus, I disagree.
In conclusion, the imprisonment is not a right case to deal with a crime,for it takes valuable time and there are many alternatives of punishing as well. That is why, I disagree with the given situation.
