Band 6+: Question: Doctors recommend that older people exercise regularly. However, many of them do not exercise enough. What are the causes? What can be done to encourage them to exercise?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent years, the elderly people are recommended to do exercises consistently. Although, majority of them do not follow this advice. This issue has caused significant concern and calls for immediate attention. This essay will discuss the main causes of this problem, such as lack of discipline and special facilities, and propose viable solutions, including raising awareness and accessibility to sport equipment, to address it effectively.

One of the primary causes of this problem is that elderly people might not have enough motivation and discipline to make themselves to do sports. As individuals get older, they tend to not to pay much attention to doing exercises, considering them too challenging. For example, they might get exhausted easily, then stop exercising regularly. In addition, a shortage of sport equipment can also contribute to the worsening situation. The elderly people might experience difficulties while practicing, because many sport facilities are specially designed to a group of middle-aged people, therefore individuals older than 60 might face setbacks during exercising.

To tackle this issue, one effective solution will be to organize public awareness campaigns, explaining benefits of doing sports to an elderly people. It is important not only to increase knowledge about advantages, but also to demonstrate how to do exercises which are appropriate and essential at their age. Moreover, governments should build more free sport complexes and equipments. For example, constructing high quality facilities for exercising in front of the residential areas and in parks could also make a significant difference. If these measures are properly enforced, individuals will have easier and faster access to exercising, therefore raising the number of elderly people doing sports.

In conclusion, low level of old people not doing necessary exercising is an important problem, which stems from insufficient discipline and small quantity of sports equipment. However, by educating elderly people and providing vital facilities, it is possible to alleviate the problem and prevent further consequences.
