There is an ongoing debate over aims of reading story is wasting time. Some people think that reading story is waste of time and children should do beneficial things instead of reading them, while other people tend to overthink that they should read stories by parents from young age. I agree with the latter view, due to being great opportunity, spreading time with parents, and being enjoyable and educational for children.
On the one hand, there are clear arguments that doing creative actions instead of reading stories is one of the main reasons, and can be said encouraging children to live in fantastic world. It may lead to some consequences, such as being dreamer and avoiding people. As a result, when they go to school, they may be lead by peers. Another possible reason can be that stories negatively impact the mind of the children. For example, stories which are scary and dramatic. As a consequence, it may be childhood trauma for them.
On the other hand, I agree with the viewpoint that children should be read stories from young age. Firstly, I feel that shared reading with children is unique opportunity for parents to bond with them. For example, reading interesting stories with children every night before sleeping increases affection between parents and children. Secondly, I also feel that good stories are both enjoyable and educational, and instill a love of reading in children. This means that it can help a child being literate and free thinking. In conclusion, although not reading stories is better to not being dreamers and affecting mind of children, yet I am of the opinion that reading them is important only to bond with parents and instill a love of reading children.
