Band 5+: Reporting of crimes and other kinds of violent news on television and in newspapers can have adverse consequences. This kind of information should be restricted from being shown in the media. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In this day and age, crimes and other violence have increased. There is a statement on reporting crimes and the other types of violent news on the media can have adverse consequences. Thus, this kind of information should be restricted from being shown to the public. This essay will discuss this idea and will draw my personal conclusion.

In one hand, reporting of crimes that happened around the world can affect multiple people in many ways such as mentally and physically. For example, watching news on television with your family it may lead to your child to watch it as well, and that according to many researchers it well affects on the child mentally and might end up with killer or bad personality. So, that’s why some people think that This kind of information should be restricted from being shown in the media.

On the other hand, some news especially the news that hold the truth and might help some people such as a serial killer around your town or influencer in your country doing other crimes. For instance, Ted bandy is a serial killer and was killed two or three persons a day. Thus, reporting of such a crime and showing it to the public helps other individuals around the city or the country. This proves clearly that not all the reporting should be restricted because it might help other people in other ways.

In conclusion, after careful analysis of this statement, I believe that combination of both will reduce the disadvantage and increase the advantage of reporting crimes. Therefore, it will lead to a lot of help from civilians and governments around the world.
