The proliferation of reviving old buildings has been a topic of concern. While there is a school of thought that restoration of aged buildings requires an enormous government intervention, especially in budgets, it is more suitable to allocate this fund to construct new ones. This essay will evaluate both aspects and describe the author’s opinion.
On the one hand, there is some justification why numerous people opine building new accommodation. First and foremost, individuals can reap enormous benefits from upgrading old buildings. In fact, the majority of conurbations fail to generate enough housing for their citizens, subsequently leading to the unaffordability and incessant increase of expenditure of accommodation. By subsidizing the housing industry through a social budget, it can alleviate this status quo of housing and make owning a house more accessible for ordinary people. Secondly, constructing numerous accommodations will play an integral role in maintaining the stability of society. Indeed, the inadequate housing is exacerbating the homelessness and crime. It acts as a precursor for an unstable society. In order to address this problem,the state can increase the source of building and divert more funds to the construction of new buildings.
On the other hand, despite the aforementioned reason, I am convinced that reusing and upgrading old buildings has unshaken importances, ranging from saving resources to protecting the rights of residents. Regarding the former, despite its degradation, old buildings have a crucial role to play in saving societal resources. This kind of building has numerous valuables, such as their foundation of building and their places. By reusing them, we will save enormous resources and satisfy public demand for accommodation with higher speed than construction of new ones. With respect to the latter, recycling old buildings can maintain resident’s rights and minimize conflicts with them through disposing of the utter deconstruction of these buildings. By this way, it will reduce the number of unnecessary funds spent on reallocating residents and keep their consent of construction, resulting in a higher velocity of construction compared to building new accommodation.
In conclusion, despite the enormous benefits of constructing new houses for both society and individuals, I am in favor of updating ancient buildings due to its saving resources and maintenance the rights for both citizens and authorities.
