There is an idea that wealthy countries should not let professionals enter a job in the country for the reason that poor countries need those people more. I mostly agree with this statement for two particular reasons.
The first reason that I believe in this idea is that most of the skilled people applying for jobs in first world countries have no intention of returning to their mother land which causes a big shortage in the amount of available skilled workers in the poor countries. This can lead to many problems for the citizens of that country such as the lack of good doctors, engineers, lawyers and other important jobs. This big shortage results in high number of citizens visiting a single professional to take care of their needs hence the long waiting time and also lower quality of services. For instance, a rural city that now has only one doctor is experiencing an up rise in the number of sick people dying because the doctor cannot checkup all the patiences.
The second reason I agree with this statement is that by accepting so many skilled job seekers to the wealthy countries the job market in that specific country starts to fill up, leaving not enough room for the native workers. The competition for entering the job market will rise making it harder and harder for the native citizens to find a suitable job. Though this might have its own benefits, in my opinion the disadvantages of this crowded job market outweighs the advantages. The natives hope to study and enter for a job may lower in result of the slim chances of finding a desired job. For example, a client looking for a lawyer has so many options to choose from between different lawyers who had many years of study but only one can secure the contract and the rest ones won’t get a job.
In conclusion, I think although migrating to work in a better environment has some benefits, it can damage the destination country as well as the home land of the person in different ways. So, I believe workers better off staying in their country serving their own citizens than to work in a foreign country
