There is an on-going debate about whether carrying out scientific research should not be done by private companies but by governments. While private companies might be able to bring such groundbreaking innovations, I believe that if those discoveries are not supervised under the government’s eyes, these innovations can be harmful to society. In this essay, the reason and effects related to this will be elucidated.
Scientific research is often known as positive advancements for human life. Based on the fact that many ancient inventions in the past life have influenced the world until today like the invention of lightbulbs, electricity, and technologies. Thanks to those greatest inventions that have created a new life for humans, uplifting our practical use in daily life in today’s world. And governments take responsibility for those research, by monitoring those research to support the quality of life of citizenry, solving the problems of lacking electricity and essential smart devices for education in remote areas in this technological era. As a result, national organizations can make a bigger impact on the community and better the known of the author of the research.
Given that scientific research aims for societal development, some private organizations’ targets are against that, which often navigate to personal benefits, neglecting human ethical aspects. Those undergoing research often go with spontaneousness and do not follow standardized procedures, only focusing on profit results or even just to broaden their knowledge . Leading to the fact that there was an existing experiment on human behavior that became a deterrent to the victims by abandoning them in an empty room, consistent loud noise to discover the limitation of the human’s brain. And the cost for recovery to those heavily affected victims cannot be fully adapted by the governments because both of their physical and mental health has dramatically deteriorated.
In conclusion, the credibility of governments will make a radical solution, inhibiting unethical human experimentation that can pose a serious threat to human life. Applicability of practical research will be managed in order for the development of the country.
