Smacking children is the best form of discipline. To what extent do you agree or disagree?Physical punishment has nowadays become widely popular among parents to control children’s behavior. Some people claim that striking children is the best way to control their actions. This essay will argue why smacking children is entirely unnecessary, although it controls their behavior.
Parents have always been worried about their children’s behavior and actions. They are just tense about their child’s future and whether wrong things at an early age may carry forward, and their children may do extremely wrong activities in the coming days. Additionally, they also want their children not to follow the wrong path in their life. Indeed, there have been some recorded instances where children were badly beaten by their parents using materials like belts, sticks, etc. There are a few instances where young students got caught using alcohol, and ultimately triggered their parents and forced them to use physical force. These few instances have bolstered parent’s fear of their children going out of control in their behaviors.
However, it is completely unacceptable to use this kind of punishment to control stubborn children. It can lead to mental trauma and anxiety in the children’s minds, which will lead to fear from the parents. Moreover, children will try to hide everything from their parents, which will ultimately make them follow bad habits. One clear example is one of the children from India who committed suicide as their parents had continuously beaten him for more than ten years. Therefore, any action by parents can lead to extreme results which can’t be altered later. That is why parents need to be careful while handling their children.
This essay argued that parents shouldn’t beat their children for their bad behavior as it impacts the children’s mental health. I believe that counseling and giving valuable lessons about different topics can eradicate the problem easily.
