Social platforms developed their algorithms in that way that people who use them can merely be provided with limited range of information that suits their interests, not the truth of the world. I mostly agree with this opinion and I am going to discuss how social media algorithms are made up for users and how they disturb people from the actual truth.
Firstly, it is the fact that social media algorithms are designed in specific way just to make individuals spend more time on their platforms. To clarify, as technology impoved, algorithms are capable of knowing what specifically a certain person’s interests, just by tracking what people watch, who they follow and who’s their friends. For example, Instagram, which one of the most popular social media among younger generation, and it is algorithms are very good at tracking people, so, that is why most of the times people spend a certain part of their times to scroll reels.
Secondly, I truely believe that social media platforms are not only used for advertise the businesses, but also the government use it in a proper way to steadily change individuals’ opinion to a certain type of problem. As a result, serious problem might seem normal for local people. For example, there are a lot of jokes and memes about corroption, so that, it became normal. However, people should be aware that is not normal and their taxes that they pay every months should be spend properly.
In conclusion, due to the advanced algorithms of social media people consume contents that suit only for themself. So, I truely agree that these algorithms play a huge role, because it makes people be not aware of specific things, as they watch what algorithms provided them, and it also affect create some stereotypes.
