People today are more focused on buying things than they were in the past. I agree with this idea because of changes in technology, advertising, and social behavior.
First, modern technology makes products cheaper and easier to buy. In the past, people mostly bought things they needed, like food and clothes. Today, factories make many products quickly, and online shopping makes them easy to get. Ads on TV, websites, and social media also push people to buy the newest phones, clothes, or gadgets, even if their old ones still work.
Second, social media makes consumerism worse. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok show people living luxurious lives with expensive items. This creates pressure to buy similar things to look successful or trendy. In the past, people did not have this kind of influence because they interacted mostly in person.
Finally, credit cards and loans make it easier to buy things now. Unlike earlier generations who saved money to buy what they wanted, people today can borrow money and pay later. This makes it tempting to spend more than they can afford.
Although buying more things can help businesses and the economy, it also creates problems like waste and stress. To solve this, people should think carefully before buying and focus on what they truly need.
