In this essay, both views will be discussed before giving a personal opinion.
On the one hand, many people claim that education should be job-oriented because a stable career is essential for a successful life. Schools and universities provide students with technical skills and professional knowledge that are required in modern workplaces. For example, fields such as engineering, medicine, and information technology demand specialised training, which can only be gained through structured education. Therefore, supporters of this view believe that the education system must focus on practical skills that directly improve employability.
On the other hand, some people argue that education should develop individuals in a holistic manner. According to this view, education is not only about getting a job but also about building character, creativity, and critical thinking. When students study subjects like history, literature, and philosophy, they learn to think broadly and understand different cultures and perspectives. This helps them become responsible citizens who can contribute positively to society. Thus, a broad understanding of the world is considered equally important.
In my opinion, a balanced approach is necessary. Education should certainly prepare students for employment, but it should also help them grow as thoughtful and confident individuals. When both aims are combined, students are more likely to succeed in their careers and play a meaningful role in society
