Educationists are of the opinion that students should be exposed to sports for an equal amount of time that they give to studies. Although, some might disagree, I am of the opinion that giving equal importance to sports in the timetable will help students explore and excel in extracurriculars and also bring about a positive change in their overall health.
It is known for a fact that every child does not have equal potential in excel in academics. If sports is given an equal weightage in schools, it will give students other potential avenues to explore for their future careers. World-famous athletes, may not have had outstanding academic records but still became successful in life as they directed their energies towards extracurriculars. Thus, incorporating sports more into the academic year can be beneficial for the students.
Secondly, giving equal time to sports can potentially contribute to the health of students. A college in Karchi revamped their curriculum to give equal emphasis to sports as they gave to academics. Results next year reported far less students requesting a leave of absence from school for being sick. The incorporaton of exercise can therefore be a first tiny step forward for the students to adopt a healthy lifestyle in their future.
Although studies are an integral part of the academics during the college years, sports are equally, if not more important. To conclude, emphasizing on sports during the college years can help students explore various other career opportunities as well as lead a healthy lifestyle that is of utmost importance.
