The question of whether cutting-edge technologies have negatively influenced our lives has been widely debated for many years. While some people argue that the only solution to this issue is to live a simpler life without technology, I strongly disagree with this view and believe that modern technologies play a crucial role in people’s lives for several reasons.
One of the strongest arguments in favor of rejecting modern technology is that it could reduce the level of stress and simplify life. Admittedly, when individuals frequently apply cutting-edge technologies such as mobile phones or personal computers, it can gradually develop a screen addiction, which can eventually lead to mental health issues and sedentary lifestyle due to lack of attention to their physical condition. This negligence results in people becoming disconnected from the world and cannot maintain a balance between virtual and real life. To prevent such a scenario, greater attention should be given to teaching digital balance and responsible use of gadgets. A case in point can be Germany, where private campaigns promote “digital detox” studying programmes, encouraging people to control their screen addiction in an appropriate way to avoid further issues with their mental health. In this light, seeing individuals’ responsibility for their lives rather than total rejection of modern technologies can be regarded as largely beneficial.
Having said that, I still believe that the above-mentioned drawbacks remain secondary to the large-scale benefits that technology brings to our lives in terms of convenience and flexibility. Firstly, cutting-edge technologies can serve as useful tools that contain a wide range of necessary information, thereby influencing both academic and professional performance. To illustrate, in the United States, people frequently use modern technologies in their workplaces, particularly for searching for relevant information and simplifying their tasks or projects. As a result of this development, individuals can significantly increase their productivity and efficiency. Equally important is instant communication, as digital platforms, such as Telegram, email and video conferencing enable fast and effective interaction across long distances. Therefore, while technology provides convenient access to indispensable information, it also facilitates global communication, which ultimately leads to positive outcomes in terms of performance and productivity in people’s lives.
In conclusion, although rejecting technologies may appear beneficial in terms of reducing the level of stress and simplifying life, I firmly believe that these disadvantages are outweighed by the substantial benefits that modern technology provides by offering broad access to information and enabling communication across long distances.
