Band 7+: Some believe that money for education should mainly be spent on better computers while others believe it would be better spent on teachers. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Opinions are divided on whether the governments should crucially allocate the education budget to computers or teachers. Although the former option can offer certain benefits, I believe the latter are more significant.

Proponents of channeling more funding into technology may base their position on some potential benefits in terms of academic performance and job opportunities. Regarding the former, modern digital technology allows students to easily access a huge amount of knowledge through learning online platforms. These provide numerous online lectures, which can be recorded, stored and shared for reference, enabling them to get exposed to the learning material regardless of geographical distances. For example, In the context of Covid 19 pandamic, Vietnamese students gained their knowledge efficiently thanks to studying on the Internet by computers or other electronic gadgets. In addition, these days, more and more businesses require skills relating to technology such as Microsoft office or Google Workspace, so investment in technology can help students reach latest digital devices and master these skills. Doing so increases their competitiveness, compared to other candidates and helps them acquire many high-paid job opportunities.

However, I contend that the authorities should dedicate their budget to improving teacher qualifications, bringing a host of significant advantages. One of them is that students can be entitled to better guidance of highly qualified and well-trained teachers, who are capable to apply effective teaching methods to training their students and providing them with interesting lessons. As a result, these students can easily acquire intensive knowledge and gain better academic performances. Moreover, teaching staff play a vital role in formation and fostering students’ ethics that technology cannot match. A case in point is that educational program in Vietnam has focused on civic education subject, which requires qualified teachers to meticulously train their childrens, contributing to personality and awareness development of ones.

In conclusion, regarding governments should devote a larger education budget to computers or instructors. While investment in digital equipments is beneficial, it should be concentrated primarily on teachers.
