Advertising is considered one of the most omnipresent art forms to help increase the profitability of a business. While some individuals assume that advertising is not so essential and buying goods depends on people’s needs, I disagree with this notion because of the role in announcing products’ details and delivering brands’ messages to consumers.
Via advertisements, consumers will be informed about the products that they are in need of. Buyers can clearly imagine product features, and how the products can address consumers’ needs. Therefore, it can help with decision-making when purchasing commodities. For instance, Simple, a cosmetic brand, has run an advertisement of their new serum, which is suitable for sensitive and oily skin, on almost every social media platform. Once this advert spreads like wildfire, a majority of individuals having oily and sensitive skin will be accessible to it and might purchase Simple serum. Indeed, consumers can find appropriate commodities for them through adverts.
Furthermore, advertisements play a crucial role in conveying businesses’ messages to consumers. To retain potential consumers, a business does not only enhance their product features, but they also offer humanistic values in advertisements. Therefore, buyers will feel relatable and supportive to the business. Take Simple as an example again, they introduced biodegradable face wipes and integrated a quote: “Be kinder to our planet” into their advert. This kind of advertising will spread the spirit of protecting the environment, promoting people to go green. As a result, it can assure human well-being and environmental sustainability while maximizing profits.
To conclude, I am not in favor of the idea that purchasers will buy merchandise in demand without advertising. As it can help inform product features and spread meaningful messages to consumers, advertising is of paramount importance to business development. Hopefully, advertising will open doors to positive change in society.
