Some individuals feel students should be learning subjects such as science and technology only because they will be more beneficial for future careers. Others feel subjects such as history and literature are still essential. I feel both opinions have merit, and students should be learning a combination of both kinds of subjects.
Individuals who advocate for science and technology usually state that these topics result in improved jobs. In the current world, occupations in IT, medicine, and engineering are needed greatly. Studying these topics may enable students to secure good jobs and assist the nation in its development. Moreover, science and technology fix everyday issues, such as enhancing health and providing clean energy.
History and literature on the other hand make us a better person and the world. History teaches us about what happened in the past and how we came to be where we are today. Literature makes us think, know different points of view, and even phrase our emotions. Both subjects make students more considerate and better at getting others. This matters in any profession or aspect of life.
In my opinion, education should not only be about preparing for a job but also about shaping well-rounded individuals. A student who studies both technology and literature, for example, may become a better problem-solver and communicator. Therefore, rather than choosing one over the other, schools should aim to provide a balanced curriculum that includes both practical and cultural subjects.
