It is often noticed that nowadays, sports events are predominantly sponsored by companies. Few individuals take this positively, whereas others stand in complete disfavor of this. From my perspective, it is indubitably a positive step, which not only benefits businesses but also sport players.
On one side of the debate are people who argue that advertisements through sport activities do more harm than good. These people believe that advertisements tend to create artificial wants and play with the psychology of the customers. This is usually heightened in the case of the young population. For instance, had a 13-year-old child not been influenced by the clothing of their favorite sports person, they would not have pestered their parents for the same commodity.
On the other side, the proponents state that advertisements are an effective medium for companies to enhance their brand awareness. There is no question regarding the number of audience that sports events hold. Therefore, whenever any business organization collaborates with established sport stars, then all the followers of that person show their interest towards the product or service being advertised. Meanwhile, it renders businesses an excellent opportunity to boost their sales in the market.
In my opinion, sports events being funded by companies carry more advantages for both the organization and players. In other words, when an event is sponsored by a corporation, the onus to provide proper equipment to the players lies on the shoulders of the company itself, which further mitigates the financial stress of the team members.
In conclusion, I strongly hold the view that despite generating unnecessary interest among the audience, it is still a fruitful situation where companies take the initiative to fund athletic contests.
