Some nations construct world class sports centers and alllow only top athletes to train there rather than opening them to the general public. This essay will argue that this is a negative development.

On the one hand, some people believe that common people must be allowed to train in these high quality places. This has multiple advantages. Firstly, citizenry will be motivated to make use of these advanced amenities and this will result in improved well-being of the nation as any kind of training or exercise done here will have a positive effect on the health of a country’s residents. This will also encourage ordinary people to take sports and athletics seriously. For example, the Indian government recently had announced that all females will be allowed free entry in a state of the art training center. This resulted in many women taking part in atheletic events which earlier received participation only from the men.

On the other hand, those opposed to this say that only the best sportsmen must be allowed to train in high-tech training centers. Agreed that this is beneficial for the nation’s standings in international competitions but this puts ordrinary citizens at a disadvantage by not allowing them access. If normal people are not permitted entry here, there is a chance that the nation may actually miss out on identifying raw talent. For instance, in the recently concluded olympics, an athelete from India won the marathon and in an interview she stated that she often had to practise without shoes as her family could not even afford to buy her a good piece of running shoes. She came from a very remote village in India. Before, winning the race, she was just another human trying to emerge victorious and a well known sports-woman. If such talents are not allowed to enter the premises of improved sports premises, it is a huge loss to the country’s prospects.

In conclusion, the state must allow access to its specialised training centers to every citizen and this can be seen only as a welcome development.
