In today’s fast paced world, many states import large amount of food instead of consuming their own products. While this development can solve some problems such as food shortage, I do believe, this is negative development as its power of losing national identity and so on.
On the one hand, we have already come to a time when we cannot imagine our life without international food. Therefore some may assert its merits. One of main aspirations of this is to find solution for food shortage which has already become global problem. Because many citizen of some poor states around the world suffer from hungry owing to their poor life and they have to get help from countries where have well-developed economy. Take Africa countries, there are many unprivileged people especially homeless and lack of food has become one of the most problems which should be solved. Therefore it can be handy in solving these problems.
Despite this, its negativity is much more significant. One of these is that it can impact negatively on national identity. Because it is traditional foods what play important role in keeping identity. Take my country – Uzbekistan, recent young people tend to purchase foreign food like fast food as they regard these as natural situation, leading to not only impact negatively on their health, but also damage identity. Another significant downside is that it can constrict access to markets of local businesses. Because many people think international food is better compared to local food. For example, in even local restaurants, there is menu which have not product of local businesses. Instead of these, they purchase other food, especially product of Mc.Donald’s and KFC.
