In modern society, laws against smoking tobacco in public places, such as the workplace and amenities have been implemented in many countries. However, others have no awareness of smoking causes, prompting debate about whether smoking should be prohibited. It seems to me that smoking bans are inevitable that can reduce health issues and ensure public health, and I will explain why in this essay.
On the one hand, opponents of smoking restrictions promote the idea that smoking in public places is an essential part of culture. They point to evidence from a smoker-friendly country, such as China, where a significant smoking culture is shaped by society and history in order to illustrate respect, hospitality, and even a sign of maturity. Furthermore, critics of smoking bans highlight a liberal approach. They argue that many smokers are likely to smoke depending on their various needs, from seeking pleasure to relieving pain. Requiring no smoking in indoor places, such as offices and canteensregardless of diversity may not be an equitable and appropriate solution for smokers who have valid reasons.
However, those who support the laws against smoking tobacco often highlight health issues. While smokers with valid reasons can smoke in public places, their health issues would not be overlooked. A growing body of research suggests that smoking leads to rated serious diseases, such as cancer, lung disease and heart attack, which results in premature death in the long run. Moreover, there isstrong evidence to suggest that non-smokers in public places, including babies, teenagers, pregnant women and elders consistently inhale smoke, and to suffer from these diseases through second-hand smoking. Therefore, every country should ensure human rights and give priority to public health like other non-smoking countries, such as Finland and Denmark.
Overall, I would tend to side with advocates of smoking bans. It seems reasonable to prohibit to not only prevent rated diseases, but also ensure public health among smokers and non-smokers.
