Shortening of the school day is the topic that has been debated a lot recently. Many people believed that school has to decrease the time of the academic curriculum in the urban areas. There are advantages and disadvantages associated with this notion which are elaborated further.
To commence with, There are few merits for reducing the school hours and one is that students would allowed to do the extra activities such as other educational, sports, vocational etc. Many countries has already started these kind of activities which could be beneficial for students mental growth. For an instance, In India, 80% of the grade 11 students are attending the outside classes for the major subjects such as physics, chemistry and maths in the city areas which can support them to achieve their target smoothly. Additionally, one more benefit for shortening a day that could reduce the time to go and from school which could increase their capabilities to participate in external internship program and join the community service. Individuals can be learn the social as well as technical skills to perform better in the future goals.
Furthermore, there are some downside of this statement and one is that if system will reduce the hours then it might have to decrease the vacation day to satisfy the hours requirement. For example, In British, school authorities have updated the hours of their workings and reduced the festival holidays from a month to a week. Moreover, working parents facing a stress to find the day care for their juvenile after reducing this school hours. They have to spend a lot of money for their children as the day care charges increasing day by day.
In a conclusion, some people believed that the reducing the school days could help youngsters to engage in their interested activities and few believed that it could directly affect on the costing and time of the guardians. However, shortening of a day, disadvantages far outweigh the advantages.
