In my opinion, healthcare has already been sufficiently prioritized in many countries, as evidenced by budget allocations. Therefore, I believe that governments should also focus on other critical areas, such as birth rates, education, and national defense.
The majority of people consider health to be the highest priority in life, and a nation’s primary responsibility is to enhance the well-being of its citizens. For example, some European countries and Japan have aging societies, and their citizens struggle to maintain their health. As a result, governments have been addressing this issue as medical expenses for individuals continue to rise. Furthermore, in the event of another pandemic like the previous one, only large organizations such as governments can effectively manage the crisis. Therefore, many people argue that healthcare should remain a top priority.
On the other hand, I believe that governments should pay more attention to other sectors, such as improving birth rates, education, and national defense, as tax revenue has been decreasing due to declining populations. Consequently, nations may struggle to maintain the status quo. In the case of Japan, healthcare budgets have been increasing rapidly due to the aging population. Since younger generations must bear the tax burden, they cannot allocate sufficient funds to their children’s education, leading some people to avoid having children altogether. Additionally, North Korea occasionally fires missiles into the Sea of Japan, highlighting the critical need for self-defense, as demonstrated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
