People have different views as to whether a country can achieve economic prosperity while maintaining a clean environment. While there are clear benefits to focusing on a single domain, I strongly believe that balancing both economic growth and environmental protection does more good than harm.
Opponents of pursuing environmental preservation and economic growth simultaneously put forth various justifications to support their stance. When a country prioritises one field over another, for example, environmental sustainability at the expense of industrial expansion, mass production, and large-scale infrastructure projects, it may lead to a reduction of environmental degradation, such as carbon footprint and excessive carbon emissions. Thus, this might improve environmental preservation significantly for the sake of those initiatives. This scenario is particularly advantageous for a country that rely heavily on tourism and natural attractions.
Despite these arguments in favor of focusing on one subject, in my view, being both economically successful and having a clean environment at the same time can coexist. Once a nation adopts this approach as a long-term policy, it may need to enforce strict regulations. Thereby, it may contribute to the development of both domains by improving green technologies and innovations in clean energy and raising public awareness as well, without compromising the well-being of young generations. A case in point is Germany, where focused on both fields without thinking that they are inherently incompatible and costly to reverse. Consequently, Germany has emerged as a leading nation that has achieved this balance without causing long-term ecological damage.
In conclusion, although focusing on one field can be beneficial by sacrificing another one, I firmly believe that environmental regulations and raising public awareness are key drivers of success in both realms.
