It’s often argued that youngsters should heed their parents’ advice or they can feel free to make their decisions. From my perspective, it seems to me that children must heed to the advice given by their parents for several reasons.
On the one hand, those who claim that young generations could be able to make their decisions independently have their own reasons. Initially, children may feel more responsible and independent when they decide for themselves. Therefore, they might get the benefits of real-world experience, which could boost their self-confidence. Furthermore, as children rely on themselves in making decisions, they might learn from their mistakes better than from their parents’ experience, which could assist them in the future and teach them how to think before making any decision.
On the other hand, I would side with those who believe that youngsters should consider their parents’ suggestions for several explanations. Firstly, guardians may have profound experience in several life sectors, which could help the young to avoid wrong choices. Therefore, if offspring pay attention to these suggestions, they will probably keep themselves away from many undesirable consequences. Secondly, parents are responsible for teaching their offspring everything about behavior and social activities. This could be due to the fact that children were not born knowing how to communicate and deal with their friends, family and community, but it is the guardians’ responsibility to teach them. Thus, the children should accept the advice to avoid any misbehavior and gain respect in their community.
By way of conclusion, despite the fact that many people support the idea that children must make their own decisions independently, I hold the notion that the parents’ advice should be accepted as it is extremely helpful, in terms of providing experience and teaching social behavior.
