Band 5+: Some of the methods used in advertising are unethical and unacceptable in today's society

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Utilizing several of the methods in advertising is unethical and unacceptable in today’s society. While many people believe that some of the methods utilized in advertising are unethical and unacceptable, I firmly disagree with this suggestion because of some major reasons that are elucidated in this essay.

On the one hand, using some of the methods in advertising has a detrimental impact on citizens. The majority of the methods of advertising are created to attract people to their products. The methods are popularly advertised through television, social networking, or billboards. For example, some brands such as Chinsu Sauce are invariably advertised on VTV1 channel; they create many videos to promote their product excessively and have false contents for viewers. Besides, people usually receive calls about promoting their goods every day. Citizens can receive more than 10 calls on a daily basis, and they also receive nuisance messages which have commercial and promotional intentions. As a result, this is the reason why citizens feel annoyed and unpleasant when they receive advertising.

On the other hand, although utilizing several of the methods in advertising has negative effects on people, this still has various merits for citizens. Firstly, they can find it easy to purchase a new qualitative product. Today, when technology is developing, people can come across the advertising of brands in social networking such as Facebook, TikTok. This may open up the possibility of approaching qualitative products that they necessitate. For example, in TikTok, there are usually many livestreams to promote their products and make customers feel prestigious when they want to buy a product. The implication of advertising is that citizens seeking qualitative products will choose the expected product. Secondly, people are living in the era of modernization, and the demand for shopping is an inseparable part of almost everyone’s life. Advertising plays an integral role for people when they find a new modern product to keep pace with the era of modernization. They may upgrade several devices including smartphones, laptops, and they will buy new innovative devices such as dishwashers, cleaning robots. Therefore, they may find several advertisements on the internet, in brochures, and leaflets to find information about these products.

In conclusion, whereas some people are of the opinion that using several of the methods in advertising is unethical and unacceptable, I strongly believe it has various possibilities. This is because people can easily buy a new qualitative product. Also, they can find helpful information in the era of modernization
