In modern society, advertising plays a massive role in our daily lives. Many people believe that some techniques used by advertising companies are dishonest and should not be allowed. I completely agree with this view because certain advertisements trick consumers into spending money on poor products and target vulnerable children.
The main reason why some advertising methods are unacceptable is that they provide false information to the public. Many brands use edited images or make unrealistic claims to make their items look better than they actually are. For instance, cosmetic companies often show models with perfect skin to suggest that using their cream will give immediate results. This is unethical because it manipulates people’s insecurities just to increase company profits, leaving buyers disappointed when the product does not work.
Furthermore, targeting young children is another dishonest method used by advertisers today. Children do not understand the purpose of commercials and can easily believe everything they see on television or online videos. Fast food companies, for example, use bright colors and cartoon characters to market unhealthy meals directly to young kids. This puts a lot of pressure on parents to buy these foods, which contributes to health problems like childhood obesity.
In conclusion, I agree that several modern advertising methods are unethical and should be restricted. Companies should not be allowed to give misleading details about their products, and they must stop directing manipulative advertisements at children who cannot protect themselves.
