A certain number of parents assert that children under five years old should go to childcare centers, while others believe that family members such as grandparents will take better care of their kids. This essay will explore both perspectives before presenting my own view.
On the one hand, it’s undeniable that grandparents give much more attention and care to their grandchildren, and they also tend to favor them. Likewise, they have extensive experience in caring for kids because they raised their own children in the past. In addition, parents don’t need to pay for school tuition. However, if grandparents spoil their grandchildren too much, it can lead to the children developing bad behavior or becoming demanding, especially during this important stage.
On the other hand, however, many public schools have appropriate tuition fees for most parents, and expensive tuition is only associated with private schools. Furthermore, kids will have opportunities to interact with their peers, communicating at the same level of knowledge, resulting in the development of basic skills and the foundation for primary school. For example, in a research study conducted at a university, it was found that most kids are very slurred before they enter preschool, but after months of face-to-face interaction with their peers, their language skills improved tremendously. Moreover, children will learn some life skills, such as being disciplined in going to school on time, thereby setting a foundation for entering elementary school.
In conclusion, letting grandparents raise kids may have some positive aspects. However, I am absolutely convinced that preschool is the optimal choice for a child to improve their social skills, as it brings huge benefits to children in terms of early development and readiness for formal education.
