Some people believe that students should live at home while studying, while others think that attending boarding schools is a better option. Although staying with parents can provide emotional support and maintain close family relationships, I believe that boarding schools have greater benefits because they can improve students’ social skills and independence.
On the one hand, remaining at home during their education can contribute to motivation, cohesion and interaction with parents. If pupils be with their parents to study, they are more likely to avoid missing each other and less interaction, thereby giving motivation and advice to one another. For example, students who attend residential schools may have to spend long hours studying away from their families, which can make them feel homesick and emotionally isolated. Consequently, living at home can provide students with a supportive environment, enabling them to remain motivated while maintaining close relationships with their loved ones. Furthermore, staying at home during their education lays a solid foundation for reducing financial burden. Parents do not have to pay for their additional fees such as accomodation and foods, allowing them spending more time to other educational resources such as materials, books, private tutoring and extracurricular activities. As A consequence, students my have a greater access to academic support, reducing financial expances for their parents.
On the other hand, boarding schools serves as a greater catalyst for social interaction and time-effeciency. When students from board schools, hang out or catch up with friends to revise together, they can pool knowledge, ask open-minded questions and explain concepts one another with classmate, which promotes time-effeciency and helps them save valuable time.Furthermore, living in a boarding school can foster students’ independence and sense of responsibility. Being away from their parents encourages young people to manage their own schedules, complete daily tasks, and make decisions without constant parental supervision. Over time, these experiences can help them become more self-reliant and better prepared for the responsibilities of adult life.
In conclusion, although living at home can provide students with emotional support and stronger family bonds, boarding schools offer valuable opportunities for social interaction, time efficiency, and personal independence. In my view, the benefits of residential education are greater, particularly because it equips students with both academic and practical skills that can contribute to their future development.
