While some people argue that children should be rewarded for good behavior, others believe that they should be punished for bad behavior. From my perspective, both views hold merit. This essay will discuss both opinions and explain why each is valid.
To begin with, children often struggle to understand the clear distinction between good and evil due to their naivety, which is why they need motivation to improve their behavior. Parenting is challenging, as many children today can be stubborn and resistant to cooperation. To encourage kids to engage in good deeds, it is important to reward them. For example, if a child helps an elderly person or assists someone with a disability, they could be rewarded with a treat, such as ice cream or chocolate. Similarly, if children consistently study and perform well on exams, they should be acknowledged for their efforts, as this will keep them motivated. Such incentives teach children that positive actions lead to positive outcomes, helping them develop into better individuals over time.
On the other hand, children who display bad manners need to be disciplined. While children are inherently innocent, they may not always know how to behave appropriately. In my view, parents who are oblivious to their children’s behavior or lack proper parenting skills can inadvertently contribute to raising children with poor manners. If these issues are not addressed, such children may grow increasingly disconnected from the expectations of the outside world. To foster their development into compassionate individuals, it is crucial that these children face consequences for their negative behaviors. For instance, if a child bullies another, they should be immediately disciplined to prevent recurrence. Likewise, children who disrespect the elderly or use inappropriate language need to be corrected by their parents. These parental efforts will guide children toward acceptable behavior, ultimately shaping them into better people in the future.
In summary, children must be taught the principles and virtues essential for a fulfilling life. If these lessons are not imparted at a young age, they may face difficulties later on. To ensure a prosperous future, children must first learn to be well-mannered individuals. In my opinion, both points of view are valid; children should be both rewarded and punished according to their actions to foster a better future.
