Band 6: Some people argue that all experimentation on animals is bad and should be outlawed. However, others believe that important scientific discoveries can be made from animal experiments. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

Some people majorly disagree with animal experimentation and have no means of justifying it while others think that it’s sometimes necessary in order to make new scientific discoveries. While I do think that experimenting on animals significantly decreases the amount of time it takes for us to come to new scientific advancements, I still don’t think that an animal should ever be experimented on for a scientific cause.

I imagine that there are tons of different ways and methods to conduct experiments without hurting an innocent animal. If sacrificing an animal for an experiment is not necessary, then I cannot justify anyone willing to do so. Animals feel pain just as much as we do and putting them through torture in order to advance on research is inhumane and cruel in my eyes.

In addition, I can’t think of one instance that would strictly require animals to be used as experimentation subjects. Using animals for research is something that a choice people deliberately made in order to come to conclusions on scientific research more quickly and could have been avoided. Hurting animals for research is a choice and not a necessity.

In conclusion, while I do think that animal experimentation would definitely help us humans to advance in science, i’m still of the opinion that experimenting on animals should count as animal cruelty and that it is not necessary in order to make a scientific discoveries. Hurting animals for science is and will always remain inhumane and cruel in my eyes.
