Opinions are divided on whether music is just used for entertainment purposes and personal fulfilment or whether it is able to bring considerable social impact on people’s lives. While I may acknowledge the reasons behind the former view, I still firmly support the latter.
Those who believe that music is normally an entertaining method for individuals may have several arguments. From their perspective, they just want to be distracted from other things by listening to music. They might choose to add their songs to their Spotify playlists only because those would have ear-catching melodies and rhythms, ignoring the meaning of the lyrics and the stories behind what the composers might want to deliver through the songs. This can be the possibility that music may lose its significance over time, and as a result, many people will regard it as merely another way to chill out. Another possible argument is that they think that music is made to fill their leisure time. For example, people would go to the acoustic bar on weekends after long, busy workdays so as to have a chill date night with their partners.
Nevertheless, I still hold the belief that music does have the ability to have an influence on society. Chief among these is that it is believed to resemble the culture, language, and customs. In every football match between different nations, the first thing that not only the two competing teams do, but the audience in the stadium as well, is to proudly sing their national anthems. By doing this, the citizens from those nations can arrogantly express their patriotic spirits. Furthermore, Music is also beneficial for raising cattle. Kobe beef is one of the world’s most costly and cherished varieties of beef. What makes this kind of beef so precious is the exceptional care provided by the farming method. These Japanese-originated cows get to listen to symphonic music regularly so that they can generate meat of the top-knot quality.
In conclusion, it is understandable why some may argue that music is for entertaining intention. However, I would take the view that it would hold a much more significant position in humanity.
