Some individuals believe that leaving elders in aged care centres is disrespectful, meanwhile some people believe that there are more benefits for them to live in aged care centres. In my opinion, I would say that I agree with the idea of elders who are staying in aged care centres gain more benefits in their lives.
I think persons who have mindsets that putting elders in nursing home is disrespectful are mostly come from Asian countries. There are some reasons for this.
Firstly, in East countries, it is still an uncommon practice for grown up children leaving their parents in nursing homes, usually it is because they worry to be called a disobedient child (anak durhaka apa si? wkwk) because relatives or friends believe that children who put their parents in aged care home do not want to take care of their parents anymore.
Second reasons, as for asian elders themselves, if their children put them in aged care facilities the tend to have the thoughts that the are unwanted & their children throw them away.
However, personally I think that despite those reasons might be valid for some cases, there are so much more benefits for elders to live in a nursing home.
Some reasons that support my opinion are, in the facility-nursing home they usually provide experienced & trained aged care worker and nurse to take care of the elders professionally.
This is a really good benefits for the elders especially for those who are not in a healthy condition.
Apart from that, elders who interacts more with people are tend to be healthier and have lower chance to get alzheimer disease. And also, usually every facility-nursing home always have schedules for the residents to keep them active.
In summary, I agree with the statement that it is more advantageous for elders to stay in facility-nursing home as many professional carers and nurses can help to take care of them and they also can be more active and happy to socialize with more people than being home alone.
