Some people argue that technological improvement reduces crime , whereas some people believe that it stimulates illegal activity. This essay will discuss both views and offer my perspective.
Supporters contend that the improvement of technology can negatively affect illegal activities. First of all, it allows criminals to commit fraud, theft, and data breaches without even leaving their homes by their technological devices, and also, it is getting dangerous to keep money on credit cards. Another disadvantage is that social media can be misused for harmful purposes such as cyberbullying, blackmail, and spreading false information to influence public opinion as there are a lot of people who are working exactly with these to spread false information about popular ones.
Contrary to this view think that improvement of technology helps people stay in security. The presence of cameras increases the risk of being caught, which can discourage criminal behavior and assist in identifying those involved in illegal activities, as nowadays everyone has cameras at their home , work and in car in order to be secure. Online crime reporting platforms and digital crime maps enable citizens to report incidents more efficiently and stay informed about high-risk areas in their communities. 10 or 15 years ago, it was difficult to find people who had stolen them. However nowadays because of maps police can easily find them . While both views have merit , I believe that the benefits of improving technology in reducing crimes outweigh criminal activity . By improving security, they can make it so that hackers can not do anything.
In conclusion, while technological advancements have given rise to new forms of crime, such as cybercrime and social media misuse, they have also significantly contributed to crime prevention and enhanced public safety. In my opinion, the positive impact of technological progress on reducing crime far outweighs the potential risks, provided that proper safeguards and regulations are put in place.
