Some individuals argue that crime results from social issues and poverty. Nevertheless, others believe it is the consequence of a bad person’s nature. In this essay, I will examine both viewpoints before showing my final thought.
It is understandable to think that social problems and poverty are primary motives to commit crime. Firstly, social tension can prompt individuals to do illegal actions. In many parts of the world, there are several unresolved problems ranging from inflation to unemployment which lead to the lack of budget in many families. Therefore, the crime rate tends to escalate in numerous nations. Furthermore, poverty also contributes to the higher crime rates. Many underprivileged people resort to thefts or pickpockets in order to meet their needs. For instance, studies show that the rate of shoplifting in India caused by adolescents was about 45%. More surprisingly, they trigger these thefts with a view to buying something to eat. Consequently, social problems and poverty can lead to crime.
On the other hand, crime also stems from people with bad characteristics. In detail, individuals having bad natures tended to trigger minor crimes at a young age. For example, research shows that 50% of violent offenders took pleasure from killing small insects and animals when they were a child. As a result, they will be ready to undertake more illegal activities including murders and kidnappers.
In conclusion, I am firmly convinced that the higher crime rate can be attributed to three main rationales, including social issues, financial hardship and malevolent nature
