It is often argued that many scientific investigations conducted today are a waste of time and resources. However, I strongly disagree with this statement. Despite certain demerits associated with scientific research, I intend to focus on its positive aspects.
It cannot be denied that some scientific findings may lead to a waste of time and funds, causing negative outcomes such as debt for nations or individuals. For instance, numerous small and large innovations are developed nowadays, but while some succeed, others fail, wasting time and resources. Additionally, these failures can burden the efforts of individuals or groups involved in the research, leading them into significant debt. A notable example is a group in India that formed a new aerospace company. Despite their tireless efforts, their first flight collapsed, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives. Therefore, this negative aspect cannot be overlooked.
That being said, despite the demerits, I maintain my stance that scientific findings do not represent a loss of time and money. This is primarily because they help discover new avenues in science and open doors to opportunities. Many scientists are emerging from various corners of the world, striving to innovate. Successful investigations lead to patents and increased revenue. Additionally, scientific advancements boost a nation’s reputation, as research in science expands globally, generating income and enhancing the popularity of the nation that contributes to society’s innovations. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic, China developed new vaccines, namely Covaxin and Covishield, through extensive laboratory testing. The final results significantly reduced mortality rates due to the COVID virus. This exemplifies why I believe that scientific findings are not a waste of time and resources.
In conclusion, although it is recognized that scientific investigations have their fair share of drawbacks, I firmly believe that they contribute to discovering new scientific advancements and increasing a nation’s income. I presume that this trend will continue to grow in the future.
