Band 5+: Some people believe that advertising encourages us to buy things we do not need. Others say that advertisements tell us about new products that may improve our lives. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

A significant proportion of society say that advertisements are misleading and drive unnecessary spending money, while others believe that advertising help people learn regarding new products and services. Advertisement is powerful tool used by companies to promote their products, however its impact on consumers remains a topic of debate. This essay will examine both perspective, focusing on how adverts can be misleading as well as how it provides helpful information.

On the one hand, advertisements are often criticised for being deceptive. Through exaggerated claims and selective presentation of facts, companies can persuade consumers to buy products that may meet their expectations. For example, beauty products always promise unrealistic results, such as intant weight loss or perfect skin, encouraging people to purchase items that fail to deliver. Moreover, ads frequently target emotions, creating a false sense of needs, which promote impulsive spending. As a result, consumers may waste money on products that they never intended to pick.

On the other hand, ads can be benefical by informing individuals about useful product and services. For instance, advertising for medical treatments and new technologies can introduce people to innovations that develop their lifes. In addisions, adverts provite information on features, prices, quality, benefits and so on, allowing consumers to make informed decisions. Thus, advertisments play a key role in raising awareness, helping society discover items that meet their needs.

In conclusion, while ads can sometimes be misleading and lead people to spend money on things that people do not need, they also have the contents that inform consumers about valuable products and services. In my opinion, ads are most benefical when they are transparent and focus on providing accurate informations rather than exploting emotion.
