Nowadays, there are two concepts about keeping a pet. Some believe that looking after a pet should be common among all children, but a child’s situation may not always be suitable for keeping one. I opine that keeping a pet could have a great impact on a child’s understanding and horizons, however they maybe harmful for kid’s health as well.
On the one hand, having a pet can be beneficial to developing their mind and awareness about protecting the Earth by looking after the pet and growing up with it in the early ages, as well as boosting learning from childhood so that they could respect all types of lives on the Earth. In many cases, children are eager to interact and with them by playing or feeding which helps improve their understanding. Besides having a pet is a great way to find themselves in a close environment with nature which can teach them how to communicate with animals, protect them, and it is a way to escape from aloneness. Therefore, having an animal can form a burning desire of child to protect the environment by looking after them well.
On the other hand, keeping a pet at home can lead to several problems. Not all children have not been living in stable and affluent family environment which have some problems related to the cost of feeding a pet and unemployment or political turbulence. So, they cannot afford to feed animals and get medical treatment. In addition, pets can transmit contagious diseases and cause many health problems such as allergies, asthma and skin irritations which have severe effects on a child’s well-being. As a result, it may lead to lack of interest in both wild and domestic animals. We do not know the behavior of a pet, like a dog or cat. If a child touches its nail or other body parts suddenly, a cat may scratch the child’s body. Thus, having a pet can be harmful to both a family’s budget and a child’s health conscious.
To sum up, from my perspective, pets play a crucial role in child’s understanding and upbringing. Nevertheless, I do not think that they have a good behavior as we think, especially when they are irritated.
