Band 6+: "Some people believe that children should learn to compete with others from a young age, while others think that cooperation and teamwork are more important skills to teach. Discuss both views and give your own opinion."

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, there is always a debate over whether children are taught to be competitive with each other while some individuals argue that working in teams is beneficial because it gives them valuable life skills. This essay will illustrate clearly about both views of the argument and present a personal perspective.

Granted, teaching kids to be competitive encourages their ambitions and strong work ethic. When children are exposed to an aggressive environment, their abilities will be pushed without any limitations, helping them achieve goals that they have not had an opportunity to accomplish before. Furthermore, they can create motivations with a view to excelling at what they are doing. For instance, in sports, especially junior teams are encouraged to set goals and work hard to triumph over them. Therefore, this competitive spirit can be crucial for future success, as it teaches resilience and how to handle setbacks.

On the othe hand, it is believed that teamwork is an essential skill for youngsters. Participation in a team instructs youngsters on collaborating towards a shared objective, distributing duties, and managing both triumph and defeat. These abilities are crucial for success in many aspects of life, and acquiring them via athletics may be an enjoyable and fulfilling endeavour. Football should be a paradigm for this trend. With its widespread recognition, it is educating youths how to work in teams in order to develop life skills and responsibility.

In my perspective, both competitiveness and collaboration are necessary for a child’s growth, and a balance between the two should be fostered. While competition can motivate people to attain personal objectives, collaboration cultivates abilities that are essential for long-term success, such as adaptability and the capacity to collaborate effectively with others. For example, a youngster who performs academically via competition may later be required to work in groups to solve complicated problems or lead projects in a professional context. As a result, integrating the two parts can better prepare youngsters for life’s various problems.

In conclusion, while competition provides young generation ambition and encourages them to accomplish huge achievements in their future, collaboration helps them know more about responsibility and work together with a view to pulling off shared goals. In my opinion, there should be a balance between two of them so children will grow comprehensively.
