One group of people disagree with students given homework on a daily basis. But another set recommends homework for the betterment of students.
In my opinion, I believe that assignments should be given regularly for students as this helps in the intellectual development of students. However on the other side, homework assigned on a day to day basis could also hamper the time spent on extracurricular activities.
Firstly, doing homework regularly helps retain concepts and key information from a day’s class. To explain in detail, learning and doing assignments daily helps in the long term memory development of the student. This when practiced at school in all grades could help students to consolidate information better when they enter college. For example, fun activities as homework ranging from making mind maps to creating play cards can all help in stimulating the brain.
On the other hand, there could be a less time spent on other extracurricular activities as a result of regular work given from school. To be more specific, not all children may be interested in study and some may wish to pursue other hobbies like music, painting, and swimming for example. So if they spent time for their assignments without any spare time for other activities, this could affect their overall development. To further exemplify, most school hours are almost 8 hours per day and after this if they are made to do their regular homework, then they would be exhausted to go for music classes.
In conclusion, I believe that assignments to be done at home could be beneficial for better understanding and memorising of new concepts. While at the same time there could be less hours available for pursuing other hobbies. It is important for work to be assigned in moderation without exerting too much stress on the students .
