As of late,there has been a controversy over whether we only need films to learn historiy or historical books still hold their value as a history source. I, personally, am inclined to support the former view.
To begin with,those claiming that books are still a good way to study history have a sound basis to do so.The first reason that books explain historical events in a thorough and deep way.However this thing takes a long time.Another reason is that books are regarded as reliable sources of facts,because writing them,authors do a lot of research and verify the information before publishing.For example, historical books about ancient Egypt,based on archeological research and verified evidence,serve as reliable sources.
Notwithstanding the above-mentioned argument, strongly believe that we only need films to learn history.The primary reason making me believe so is watching historical films helps me undersand better and remember for a long time.The second reason is that it describes vividly ancient events and presents them in an interesting way.For example, film Gladiator vividly portrays ancient Roman life,showing battles,politics,and daily life in an interesting way.
In conclusion, even though some people arqing that historical books still hold their value as a history source weak sides,I am still believe that its films to learn history are beneficial,due to the fact that films make learning history more interesting and easier to understand.
