Band 8+: some people believe that fulltime employees get same dayoff Both view

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

People have differing views on whether all full-time employees should receive the same number of holidays or whether the amount of leave should depend on the nature of their job. I personally believe that holiday entitlement should vary according to the type of work people do as some professions are far more challenging than others.

Those in favour of equal holidays often argue that fairness should be the basis of every workplace policy. When every full-time employee gets the same amount of time off, it creates a sense of equality and avoids unnecessary disputes. A uniform system is also easier to manage, as employers do not have to decide who deserves more or less leave. Supporters also point out that every worker, irrespective of their role, contributes to the success of the organisation and hence deserves the same amount of rest.

However, others believe that the number of holidays should depend on job type, and I agree with them. Some jobs, such as those in healthcare, aviation, or emergency services, are physically and emotionally exhausting. Workers in these fields often have irregular hours and high stress levels, which can affect their health and performance. In comparison, office workers or administrative staff usually have a more controlled routine and may not need as many days off. Giving extra leave to demanding jobs helps to maintain employee motivation and prevents burnout.

In my opinion, equal holidays may look fair on paper, but they do not recognise the varying pressures of different roles. A fairer system would consider workload demand and give rest according to genuine need.
