In recent years, the issue of homogenization has been widely debated. While some individuals argue that globalization has a positive effect for all, others argue that this phenomenon causes several harms to developing countries. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument before giving a reasoned conclusion
One of the main reasons why some people support that homogenization is beneficial is that international trade agreements make multinational cooperation more accessible. This means that by standardization, countries can easily cooperate and trade with each other. This is essential because citizens have access to foreign goods. For instance, in 2024, Kazakhstan and China agreed on transitions between them due to globalization, which allows individuals from these two countries to consume many resources such as clothes and digital tools.
On the other hand, those who argue against homogenization strongly believe that standardization is dangerous for developing countries, due to a lack of knowledge about the consequences of this problem. One of the most serious issues related to homogenization is brain drain. Brain drain is a phenomenon when talented people leave their hometowns and move to another country to achieve financial success. When they move to a foreign country, they do not have many opportunities to return to their hometown. This is harmful for developing countries because they lose their talented individuals, who could help develop their economy. As a result, the next generation may also move abroad. These countries, without citizens who can help to develop them, remain in the stage of “developing.”
In conclusion, I strongly believe that globalization has both advantages and disadvantages, but its benefits outweigh the disadvantages. One of the significant reasons for my opinion is that globalization gives people access to several goods from differen countries.
