It is often argued by some people that government authorities should invest in developing road networks in order to improve local economy. Meanwhile, others argue that government should allocate resources for education sector in order to improve literacy rates. This essay will explore both sides of the argument before reaching a logical opinion.
On the one hand, the supporters of investment on road development believe that it will improve the local economy as better roads would lead to a better flow of economy. Take an example of Turkey, where construction of several superhighways in northern region has resulted in a significant improvement in local economy. Thus, government should indeed invest in developing road networks.
While on other hand, the advocate of investment on education believe that it would reduce illiteracy rates as education sector requires a lot of funding to provide free education For instance, South Africa is planning to invest one billion dollars in education sector by 2030, to reduce illiteracy rates by almost 20 percent. Hence, investment on education is also extremely important.
However, I believe that government should invest equally in both these important sectors as this approach would not only help the local economy, but also because it will reduce illiteracy.
To sum up, in order to boost economy and to improve literacy rates, government should invest on education as well as on developing roads.
