The part of people believes that people’s mobile phone call histories and messages should be accessed by governemnts for safety concerns, whereas others hold a opinion that this information is intimate and should not be uncovered without permission. While some people may think that such exposure may prevent terrorstic threat, I believe that it is still an invasion of privacy.
Many terroristic accidents are handled via phone calls or messages. Terrorists use these communication systems to prevent a personal exposure and keep in touch with a leader. Governments may detect such terroristic communication by checking people’s call and take measures to prevent it. For example, China airport officers have detected suspicious series of calls inner building in 2012, and after meticuluos checking an attempt of terroristic attack has been identified.
However, access to person’s mobile phone calls and messages violates his right to privacy. People have oppurtinuty to choose to cocneal or disclose a personal infromation of own free will. Private information belongs to person. So unauthorized access to phone calls regardless of purpose should be counted as act of illegitimate ownership even from behalf of government. For instance, in Kazakhstan citizen’s right for privacy of phone calls and messages is enshrined in law, and unsactioned possession of such infromation is regarded as a illegal act.
To conclude, an unauthorized access to phone calls may grant a oppurtinuty for government to preclude a terroristic actions. However, I believe that without permission it is a violence of people’s right to privacy.
