In today’s world, transportation is an essential part of our life. There is an ongoing debate about which is the best solution to the increasing movement crisis. While some argue that investing in public transportation is the solution, others believe that improving roads and highways is more urgent. This essay will discuss both views and present my own opinion on the matter.
One major reason why public transportation investment is the best solution, is that this way of movement moves masses in an efficient way. This is because more people fit in a smaller area when they are moving, as compared to a car. For example, London is a substantially dense city, however due to their complex transit system you can perform journeys relatively quickly. As a result, more people tend to use public transportation and streets become less crowded. Therefore, it is clear that public transportation can be the solution for our traffic needs.
Another important aspect to consider is building and expanding roads and highways. This plays a crucial role in our cities since this options are often the default commuting option. A good example of this is Dubai, this city was able to manage traffic by affording to building wide highways, while expanding the population. It is important to mention that they were able to expand the roads by their large econnomic success. Consequently, more people were able to move, using personal vehicles. Given these points, it is evident that rapidly expanding road infrastructure can also be a solution to fixing congestion.
In conclusion, both options are proving to work in reducing the traffic congestion, however it is my opinion that building passenger vehicle infrastructure is an expensive way to fix the issue . This essay has shown that both options are a feasible option to reduce travel times. Considering the arguments presented, it is clear that we try either option to fix our movement needs nevertheless it is always important to considere the cost associated to each solution.
