Nowadays, some people advocate that governments should fund in public transport systems to decrease traffic congestion and pollution of the environment. However, others say that financing should be concentrated to improving road systems. This essay will discuss both views and give its own opinion.
On the one hand, some people argue that development of public transport is more significant. They think that it will solve traffic’s and contamination’s issues: if more people were to be used public transport, less cars will be on the roads. In fact, less transport used – less environmental pollution. Therefore, development of public transport in Central Europe has led to reduction in traffic and pollution problems. Moreover, development in public transport has led to appearance of new job seats and improvement of local economies.
On the other hand, others believe that investments should be allocated to improving roads and highways. They think that improvement of roads will result in decrease of environmental contamination and traffic congestion: if road systems were to allow for car be less on the roads, pollution and traffic issues from cars could be solved. For instance, developed roads and highways in China resulted in reduction of these problems. This decrease occurred due to more effective place on the roads.
In my opinion, despite the advantages of roads’ development, improvements in public transportation are more rational. Public transport systems are very important for local societies and have enough arguments for funding in them. In contrast, investments in roads will not result in solution of the problems, and will have little or no impact for other spheres of life.In conclusion, funding in roads and highways could bring some benefits for transport.
However, development of public transportation is more effective, and thus is more significant for investments.
