In recent years, the debate over who should be accountable for an individual’s health has gained significant attention. While many people argue that it is the duty of his/her to maintain a healthy lifestyle, others believe that the local authorities should be responsible for it. In my point of view, I completely agree with the first perspective as people should take care of their health by themselves.
To begin with, there is a plethora of compelling reasons as to why I am convinced that each person should take charge of their health, primarily due to personal autonomy. It emphasizes the freedom of choice when making lifestyle decisions. When individuals are actively involved in managing their health, they are more likely to make informed choices regarding their diets, exercises, and overall well-being. For instance, a person who does exercise regularly and eats a balanced diet probably maintains good health compared to those who prefer a sedentary lifestyle. This individual-centric approach empowers people to prioritize their health, resulting in better-equipped to handle the demands of daily life effectively. Moreover, when individuals take responsibility for their health, they set a positive example for others, including family members, friends, and colleagues. This can inspire others to adopt a healthy lifestyle, thereby creating a ripple effect within communities.
On the other hand, a healthy lifestyle is a collective responsibility that requires systematic and coordinated efforts to some extent. Governments have the resources and authority to implement policies, regulations, and public health campaigns that can positively influence the resident’s health. Through initiatives such as promoting physical activity, regulating food standards, and providing healthcare services, governments can create a conducive environment for people to make healthier choices. By investing in public health measures, governments can ultimately reduce healthcare costs, enhance productivity, and improve overall societal well-being.
In conclusion, while the government can pose a host of potential effects on individual’s health, I hold a firm belief that the positive impact self-caring brings is far more significant. However, by striking a balance between personal responsibility and governmental support, we can achieve a healthier society.
